“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you.” -Buddha
Vipassana is an ancient meditation technique rediscovered by Gautam Buddha wherein one has to sit in silence and observe his bodily sensations. Global Vipassana Pagoda is a meditation hall located in Gorai, Mumbai. It is supposed to be the largest meditation hall in the world with a capacity of accommodating ~8,000 people.
I had been hearing about this pagoda for quite a long time now and hence decided to go there on a bright sunny day.
Built in Burmese style architecture, this place is ideal for practicing photography for budding photographers like me!

How to get there:
Catch a ferry for Essel World from ferry ticket counter at Gorai
Ticket price: Rs 100/- per head for round trip
Once you reach the entrance of pagoda, pick up and drop service to the foot of Pagoda is available for Rs 5 per head.
What to do:
The pagoda complex consists of the following:
- Main pagoda, where only people who have enrolled for 10 days Vipassana course are allowed.
- Meditation hall where one can sit in silence for 10 minutes and experience Vipassana meditation.
- Photo gallery portraying entire life story of Buddha.
- Food court
Amazing pics … I was not aware abt the pagoda though i stayed in mumbai for a long time… Thanks for sharing.
